Took the earliest flight out to Miami – proud part of an amazing panel of authors at the beautiful Miami Beach JCC.

September 20, 2016
Another presentation in a city that is part of the storyline — this time The Oak Park Library, in Oak Park, Illinois

There was wonderful coverage in the Lake Geneva, Wisconsin press, especially the Walworth County Today and The Lake Geneva Regional News prior to my speaking at The Lake Geneva Public Library.  What a warm reception I received, and what a great way to come full circle to one of the venues where I created my characters!

[Deby Eisenberg will speak on her novel, Protecting Paige at the Lake Geneva Library on Sept. 28 at 6:30 p.m. Facebook/Deby Eisenberg]
Meet Deby Eisenberg, a Chicago-based author of a new, multi-layered historical novel set in Lake Geneva, Chicago and Europe, at a program Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 6:30 p.m. at the Lake Geneva Public Library, 918 W. Main St., Lake Geneva.

Protecting Paige is a story revolving around a girl orphaned by a random act of gang violence, her two unlikely saviors and her discover of secret tragedies and startling truths at the core of her identity.

Opening in Chicago in 1962, the novel unfolds during a time of nationwide turmoil and transformation, coinciding with her journey to uncover her family's hidden past — in Paris and Buchenwald. It captures a young woman's coming of age and a man's search for a lost love.
Eisenberg will present a PowerPoint presentation of “ripped from the headlines” venues and events that are encompassed in her novel. She will also share the inspiration and research for a new book.

Eisenberg is known for her moving book club-favorite fiction debut, Pictures of the Past. Protecting Paige won bronze metal fro the 2016 Annual Independent Publishers Books Awards. Eisenberg was a book club leader for over 20 years, and also worked as an English teacher and journalist.

The Miami Herald:
What do you recommend?

Deby Eisenberg at the computer“No surprise — my top book recommendation is drawn from my favorite genre, historical fiction. Prepare for a thrill of a ride on the ‘Hindenburg, in Flight of Dreams.’ Author John Lee offers his re-imagination of the personal stories of love and intrigue aboard the doomed airship. Or check out Melanie Benjamin’s ‘The Swans of Fifth Avenue’ and enter the glamorous, scandalous 1960s world of Truman Capote and the famous Ladies Who Lunch. For a quirky but heartwarming story, meet the title character curmudgeon in Fredrik Backman’s ‘A Man Called Ove.’ I always have an audible book for the car — and that one was a real treat!’

Deby Eisenberg, author of Pictures of the Past and Protecting Paige. She appears at noon Wednesday on the Local Author Luncheon panel at the Miami Beach Jewish Community Center and at 10 a.m. Oct. 23 at Temple Beth Am in Pinecrest.

Pictures of the Past, 2012

Pictures of the Past Begins National Tour

In early June, I had the great privilege of being a part of the annual Jewish Book Council Author Tour Event held in Manhattan at the Hebrew Theological Union building on the NYC campus. It was an amazing session where writers had a two minute “speed dating” opportunity to present their books to the audience of representatives from JCC’s, Book Fairs, Hadassah’s, ORT’s, synagogues, etc. from across the U.S. and Canada. I was thrilled to meet and bond with so many impressive individuals, as I presented Pictures of the Past. Seated alphabetically, to my left was Delia Ephron — yes, Nora’s sister, and one of the writers of You’ve Got Mail — and next to her was Deborah Feldman, whose book, Unorthodox, I had just presented at my Book Club. And — I am so delighted to say — I received word that I am being flown (so far) to 5 venues for presentations in Tampa, Palm Beach, and Baltimore.

Please email author@debyeisenberg.com if you would like to highlight your Book Club choice of Pictures of the Past or to arrange for a Presentation or Facetime call.
